You will learn about the benefits yoga offers runners including:
- Stretching – with a focus on lengthening lower back, hamstrings, hips and shoulders
- Strengthening – upper and lower body strength postures
- Balance – for focus and strength
- Breathing – bring more air into your lungs allowing for cardiovascular performance
- Awareness – knowing when your body needs a break
Strength and flexibility are critical components to a runner’s training routine and they are often overlooked. Participants will learn a variety of exercises to help stretch and strengthen the muscles most used by runners in order to improve running performance and decrease risk of injury. This workshop is a perfect “day off” or post-run activity! No previous yoga experience required.
