FGL TV: Interview with Kathleen Burns Kingsbury, Women, Weight and Wealth

Welcome to the re-launch of Feel Good Living TV. The purpose of the show – to provide information, inspiration and experiences that “bring you back to your senses” for a healthy, satisfying and successful life.

In this episode I’m interviewing my good friend and colleague, Kathleen Burns Kingsbury on her new project Women, Weight and Wealth. An interesting topic to so many. During this interview Kathleen talks about the connection between weight and wealth, how to notice it and some simple steps to take to feel better not only about yourself, but your money, too. The bottom line: it’s an inside job and starts with feeling good about yourself.

Check out this video to learn more. Or you can visit Kathleen’s blog at www.kbkwealthconnection.com/blog or “like” her new Facebook Fan Page for Women, Weight and Wealth.

Enjoy!

FGL Stretch Break! Post-Bike Ride (or anytime) Stretch

The Stretch Break! is back after a summer hiatus.  A new stretch will be posted each Wednesday.  In this Stretch Break! I demonstrate four simple stretches for the chest & shoulders, hamstrings, quads and lower back. Perfect for after a bike ride (or anytime, really).  This video is slightly longer than previous clips, but still less than 10 minutes.  I often talk to runners, bikers and other athletes who spend so much time on their sport they leave little time to stretch.  Stretching helps ease tension in tight muscles, saving you from injury and keeping you strong and healthy.

Whether you are a biker or just need to stretch the muscle groups demonstrated in this video, I hope you give your body some love and a stretch! It just feels good.

As always, these are informational videos, designed for the average healthy adult. Always consult your physician before starting this or any other movement based exercise.

I’m working to create an iTunes podcast feed so you can easily bring these stretch breaks wherever you go! Stay tuned.

FGL TV: Zip Ready? Zip Away!

Zipping – have you done it?  Traveled treetop to treetop on a large cable wire, high above the valley, river or jungle below?

The latest episode of Feel Good Living TV highlights Zip Line Adventure Tours, a company founded and owned by Bradd Morse. (who also happens to be a very good friend of my husband.) The five-minute clip includes an interview with Bradd and a look at some of the zips on the mid-mountain tour at Hunter Mountain in the Catskill Mountains.  This tour is perfect for families and beginners!

If you watched the clip you’ll know that he is building two zipline tours at Hunter.  The second will be the longest in North America with a first zip that is 3000 feet long and about 500 feet high.  A hike to the top of Hunter Mountain allowed us to check out the starting zip (still under construction).  Admittedly, I felt scared just looking at it!

Bradd also built and owns a zipline tour company in Montego Bay, Jamaica where the longest zip is 1600 feet across and about 300 feet high.  Check out his Jamaica Zip Line adventure tour. Below is a short clip from our trip two years ago.

Adventures like this are a true test of strength, fear, ability to take risks (calculated) and trust. I know it’s not for everyone, but if you are an adventure seeker, I highly recommend trying a zipline – where ever you may travel!

In the Catskills?  Check out New York Zipline Adventure Tours at Hunter Mountain

In Jamaica?  Check out Jamaica Zipline Adventure Tours in Montego Bay

In New Hampshire? Check out Alpine ZipLine Adventures in the White Mountains (Near Loon and Franconia Notch)

The above links are not affiliate links, nor do I get compensated for this post.  I chose to highlight Bradd and his zipline because I think “zipping” is a feel good living activity that provides a big lesson in fear, trust and confidence building. We received a private tour because my husband and Bradd have been friends for close to thirty years!

Have you ever zipped or participated in another type of adventure seeking activity?  What is your favorite?  What’s on your list?

Feel Good Living TV: Mozzarella Cheese Making – In 30 minutes!

I’m so excited about this episode of Feel Good Living TV – we’re making fresh, homemade mozzarella cheese!  My friend and colleague Paula Harris is co-founder of WH Cornerstone Investments, a Wealth Management firm, by day and by night and weekend is locally dubbed the Mozarella Maven!

And on this episode she teaches us how to make homemade mozzarella in 30 minutes!  You have to watch this, it’s ridiculously easy, needing only 4 ingredients, a stove top and microwave oven.  A no brainer for those looking to have more control over the foods they eat.

To learn more about how to make your own cheese visit the New England Cheese Making Supply Company.  They provide everything you need to get started including your ingredients (there are only 4!) and your mozzarella cheese recipe.

I hope you enjoy this episode – it was a fun one for me.  Thank you Paula for taking the time.  And a big thank you to Roomescapes Luxury Design Center in Rockland, MA for the use of their live kitchen!

FGL TV: Interview with Kathleen Ogar about a “Spring Cleanse”

The winter season is full of comfort foods – hearty soups and stews, foods to keep us warm and insulated during a cold season. Winter is over and it’s time to come out of hibernation.  And to help prepare you for a healthy and energetic spring and summer season Health Coach Kathleen Ogar of Infinite Health and Wellness in Hanover, Massachusetts has just the thing – a Spring Cleanse.  During this interview, Kathleen, a homeopath, acupressurist and holistic health counselor, talks about the benefits of cleansing, the healthy way. She believes in a food based cleanse that, when you get to the bottom of it, is really about ridding the body of processed foods. And she’s got an every day practical approach. Having spent many years in the corporate world before heading into wellness full-time (a woman after my own heart) she gets the busy, hectic professional lifestyle.

If you or someone you know has ever considered a “cleanse” or what might be commonly referred to in popular magazines as a “detox”, I invite you to listen to what Kathleen has to say before you make any decisions.  She is a firm believer in a food-based cleanse to flush out any toxins, increase your energy, and have you ready for a new season.  Cleansing your body isn’t about starving your body, it’s about treating it as the strong temple it is!
