You Don’t Need to Go Out of Town to Enjoy a Vacation

Summer is back in full force this week where I live.  The humidity is high and the sun is blazing. Just as I like it!  I think, though, I think I might be the only one.

Summer is my favorite time of year.  Evenings on the deck or at the beach on a Saturday afternoon with nothing to do except sit and look out at the ocean.  Things are quieter in the summer, it’s like a natural slow down.

Back in April my husband and I enjoyed a pre-summer vacation.  One of the buildings where we stayed had this painted on the side of the wall:

A vacation is having nothing to do and all day to do it in.

I loved the idea. I realized I could continue a vacation mentality even when I’m home.  What do you think?  You don’t need to travel long or far to enjoy a vacation.

How do you or can you create a vacation-like environment even if you don’t go out of town?

I hope you are enjoying summer!

  1. Being able to relax in a moments notice is key for me. I get overwhelmed and I take my dog for a walk. It’s an instant brain vacation. I focus on my dog and the outdoors. I never really looked at it as a vacation before, but that’s exactly what it is.

The best part is I get my best ideas from these walks. My brain is relaxed and able to access my subconscious.

    Hi Stacey

I am loving summer too and totally feel your sentiments about the summer and vacations!

When we lived in the suburbs, I remember how easy it actually was to go to a park for the day and feel like one is on vacation. We definitely need not go far or for long. Just a couple of hours of quality relaxing time can make a huge difference.

Enjoy the rest of your summer!
