Megan, I agree - it was so great to hear about everyone's accomplishments! We are all capable of great things!

Lance - Thank you and I love how coaching that soccer team was a highlight. Things like that can be so much fun!

Hi Bob, Thanks for sharing your story. Like you one of my goals is to share yoga with more people. It is an amazing tool that people don't even know the half of. I look forward to reading more of your blog in 2010.

Chris - Honestly, I'm surprised to hear 2009 was your first public talk. I thought you had been speaking for a long time. Congratulations on both the talks and the book! You never know where the road leads you, mystery novels with teenage detectives could be fun!

This year, I did my first public talk, and I also released my first book. I'd been wanting to do both of those things basically all my life. I mean, when I was a little kid, I figured I'd be writing Hardy Boys books (taking over from "Franklin W. Dixon," whoever that really was) and giving talks about how to write mysteries, but I think I'm still basically living out that dream. Maybe a mystery novel with teenage detectives is next. :)

After a lifetime of being a time-optimizing, goal-oriented, you-are-what-you-achieve entrepreneur (none of which I regret, by the way--it was right for me at the time), I decided to retire and explore a far more relaxed way of being.

It wasn't as easy as I thought. After several years I still felt tense and on-edge, even though I really had nothing to be tense about. I needed a new philosophy to help me make the transition, and what I found was Yoga.

It's a mark of how far I've come that your question about my biggest achievement for 2009 was something I had to think about for a minute. But the answer is clear. It's integrating Yoga philosophy deeply into my day-to-day life and making the transition to a more relaxed and contented me, and helping anyone else who is interested understand Yoga better.

Funny, the surface success is all there, too. The entrepreneurial me would have immediately pointed to the popularity of my website and eBook, http://YogaDemystified.com and the fact that I always wanted to be a writer and now I've achieved being a writer...

But that kind of success is not the most important thing to me anymore.

Thanks for making me think about this.

Stacey,
It has been a great year, and there are lots of good moments.

If I think about this, and really what felt like a highlight, though - was coaching the soccer team I had this fall. A hodgepodge of players, coming together at the last minute, a mix of boys and girls - playing against mostly boy teams. And we ruled in the fun department (and even won a game or two). The wins were good (all two of them), but more important - was just seeing this team of kids - several who didn't know each other - bond.

And, Stacey - what you did this fall - very cool! Stepping outside of your comfort zone and "going for it" - that is great! And I sense a confidence that has come from this...all really good stuff!

I loved hearing about your biggest accomplishment, and also those of the commentators. What an awesome year it was for so many of us!

I had tons of accomplishments, and I'm not sure I could say that one stands out above any other. I shifted myself once again, in every way imaginable: physically & health-wise, mentally, emotionally, and spiritually.

In 2010, I hope to settle even deeper into this new and more awakened skin, and let my heart shine even brighter as I continue to define what it means to be a very joyful Megan Bord! (smile)

Have a super new year's eve and great start to 2010, Stacey!

Hi Stacey - just one?

In March 2009 I finally became a certified yoga teacher - a realization of a dream that I had since the summer of 2004 when I was undergoing chemotherapy for breast cancer.

In April 2009 I got REALLY clear on who and what I wanted to be (at 45 years old, it's about time, right? :-) ) After taking the Passion Test, the clarity I had was bigger than WOW.

--I won a Poetry Slam Contest
--I revamped my main blog and started another one just for stepmoms and remarried families
--I became a contributing writer for two online magazines
--I started my 500 hour level certification for yoga teaching (I graduate in June 2010)
--I connected with authors, editors, and publishers
--I am collaborating with energetic and creative people

In September I became a black belt recommended in Thai Kickboxing and the martial arts studio I belong to asked me to become part of their family as they expand their business to a new school sometime in 2010 or early 2011. As part of student appreciation day on January 2, they asked me to do a yoga seminar - there are 20 Thai Kickboxers signed up for my seminar (YIPEE)

In June I became a Grandmother...not a "step" grandmother - GRAMMIE. That's so HUGE.

As I peer into the year ahead I will have both my 500 level yoga certification and I'll test for my first degree black belt. I'll see two daughters get married. My youngest stepson, who lives with me and my husband, will graduate from high school. I start my own radio show January 4. I'll keep writing until I have a book deal in hand.

Happy New Year Stacey!

Stacey...wow I have not taken a moment to reflect on this yet.
So first of all, being a good mama has been number 1. I love my kids and they fuel everything else.
Two, my business grew by 200% Yahooooooooooo! As I fully committed to the concept of levity and created a somewhat radical approach to coaching, the clients came literally streaming in.
I feel grateful and as I create more systems I, too, look forward to further growth and more holidays in 2010. I feel grateful to have taken the risk and being open to the possibilitities I would have never dreamed of before.

Mine has been helping my husband build his own accounting practice after his job was eliminated last April. He has more than enough work now and may even have to hire someone between Jan-April. Yeah!

That we did it doesn't surprise me. Except for a few years we have always worked on our own. We've been together since we were teens and know when to back off and when to move forward. At first it was scary, until July he was looking to work for someone else. I read one day in the Wall Street Journal that if one does find a job one can only plan on having it for 2-3 years at the most. I thought we are to old for this!

Then one of our daughter's helped me convince him he could rebuild a new accounting practice all together. (he sold his last one when we moved two years ago).

Once the decision was made plus the hard work of the next few months things began to snowball. As we begin the new year 8 1/2 months later we now know his loss of job was the best thing that could have happened to him!
