Monday Quote and a Note on Success

I have recently been going through a tumultuous time as I figure out “what I want to be when I grow up”. It’s been as the quote below suggests, a struggle. What do I sell? Who do I sell it to? What’s my goal? Every time I think I have an answer, it’s not, to me, the right one. It feels like the complete opposite of success. The day before I read this quote a trusted source likened what I was experiencing to a child’s growing pains. Reminding me that there is often a lot of frustration and discomfort before a big growth spurt and once the growth occurs, the child is no longer uncomfortable. It made sense. The next day this quote ended up in my inbox:

“Always remember that striving and struggle precede success, even in the dictionary.”-Sarah Ban Breathnach, Contemporary Writer

Perfect timing. And after reading this, my mind was set at ease and answers I’ve been looking for started coming to me. And this time, they are the right ones.

  1. I know what you’re going through. I think every couple of years or so I go through the whole “what do I want to do when I grow up?” Only, um, I’m already grown - LOL. I know for me, it’s all about helping people. As long as I’m helping folks, in one way or another, I’m happy.

Good luck with your successes. Here’s hoping you can do it without the need to strive or struggle ;-)

  2. You go girl! Being uncomfortable always comes before a break through. The difference between the women that make it in business and the ones that don’t is the ability to be resilient and sit through times of uncertainty. I can’t wait to hear what happens next for you.

  3. @Kat - thanks, while in it the struggle is so uncomfortable, but knowing and believing it’s turning into something else is comforting. Helping people is key and something I’ve been thinking a lot about.

@KBK - Resilience is a big part - I refuse to give up!
