Music Motivation - What’s on your workout playlist?
Every so often I get bored with my workout tunes and need to create a new playlist. It helps to motivate me. I just created a new playlist this week as part of my spring workout strategy.
Note: I admit up front to loving top 40 dance tunes. I grew up with tunes of the 80s and 90s. Sticks and stones cannot hurt me.
Here’s my new playlist (these songs are not all new, just part of a new playlist and they are admittedly very “dancey” - is that a word?)
- 32 Flavors, Alana Davis - Great warm up
- 4 minutes, Madonna (Featuring Justin Timberlake)
- See you Again, Miley Cyrus - If she wants to publish racy photos of her and her dad, that’s not my business to care about
- Let’s Get Loud, Jennifer Lopez - I might have to take this one off because I feel the urge to stop and salsa mid-run. I also feel as though I need some booty pop panties that I recently learned about from mizfit in order to truly get into the Latin groove.
- La Vida Loca, Ricky Martin - Sigh. Admittedly this is on all of my playlists.
- Break the Ice, Britney Spears - I’m too old to care about her drama, her music makes me want to move and dance
- Low, Flo Rida (Featuring T-Pain)
- What is Love, Haddaway - yes, one hit wonder, but what a hit it was!
- I Write Sins, Not Tragedies, Panic! at the Disco
- Sorry, Madonna - I’m a fan of the material girl, what can I say
What’s on your playlist? Guilty pleasures? Rock? Country? I’m always looking to add to mine and I am open to new possibilities in music. I’ve just always loved to dance and that’s where I go first. So help me out!

Hi! I found your blog searching for people who’ve done P90X. I am on day 16. I have to agree with a lot of your song choices! I am a Mariah Carey-Miley Cyrus-hip-hoppidy kind of girl myself. I like anything with a good beat. I just recently burned a cd with older stuff like Brass Monkey on it..and that is so much fun. I agree…working out with fun, upbeat music makes a huge difference. That elevator music on the P90X dvd’s is so boring! I haven’t had a lot of time to read your blog…but did you decide to do P90X again? Did you know they have a P90X+ now? you can check my blog ou at http://p90xourjourney.blogspot.com if you want.
Oh, good, I’m glad I’m not the only one! I did not know they had P90X+, I’ll check it out (for fun!). I never followed the program exactly and I do still rotate through the strength workouts, they are pretty good! I stopped using the DVDs a long time ago and follow the exercises in the book so I can move at my own pace and listen to whatever I want. Good luck with it!
