Yoga at Work - It Works!
According to an article today on Boston.com more and more companies are offering lunch time yoga classes for employees as a way to decrease stress. Finally, it’s in the press! Employers are understanding the benefits to employees and to the bottom line. Not to mention increased productivity and job satisfaction.
Whether it’s an ongoing yoga class, half day training or some other wellness benefit, employers are starting to catch on. It absolutely cannot hurt (I’m biased) to offer these programs. Not all employers are paying for them, some subsidize allowing employees to pay a reduced cost. I wish I had that benefit when I worked in a corporate setting. It would have helped me quite a bit.
I’ve been doing lots of stress management programs lately and the feedback is always great. Room for improvement comments: MORE STRESS TRAINING. People want it. We wellness professionals have to give it to them.
No program at work? No problem!
If your company offers a program, great - I hope you take advantage of it. If not, check out my free podcast Yoga At Your Desk. It’s a 10 minute video segment containing stretches you can do right at your desk. Every little bit helps! Don’t wait until your company brings in a wellness program. Get started on your own with the Let it Flow podcast series. More desk stretch podcasts coming soon. You can also subscribe to the podcast feed in iTunes and download to your MP3 player.
