Just eat the chips, no comments needed

Are you happy with the way your body looks or are you one of those people who criticizes everything you put in your mouth saying how fat you feel? And even when you do that you know you’re still going to eat another dessert.

I heard it on Christmas Eve and I heard it yesterday (day after Christmas we have a big celebration with my husband’s family). I wonder why people say it: Because they think they should? Because I’m standing next to them? Because of guilt? Because they can’t just enjoy what they are eating without comment?

I have always believed that beauty starts from within. When we are happy with ourselves - no matter what size our bodies are or how many wrinkles we have on our face - that happiness shows externally to the rest of the world. It’s that day in the office when nothing about you has changed yet all of your co-workers approach you and say something like “Wow, (insert your name here), you look great today, did you lose weight or cut your hair?”

When this happens smile and say “No, and thank you.”

When there is inner happiness and peace there is an outer glow that people notice and connect with and it’s the most beautiful thing. If you decide to eat the chips at the party - then eat the chips without guilt, remorse or any comments about how fat you are. Just eat them and enjoy them! Why is this so difficult?

This is about choices - you have them, you made them. Nobody forced you to eat the chips, cookies, pies, whatever. You did it because you chose to. If you’re not happy with that choice, next time consider making a new one. Regardless, be okay with whatever decision was made. It’s all over now and there are more important things to think about. Perhaps you’ll make a different choice next time.
