In the News: Get Walking to Lose Inches, Increase Health
Another study released this week says that walking 6 days a week for 30 minutes is enough to trim waistlines and decrease the risk of metabolic syndrome - even without dietary changes.
A couple of key findings:
- Moderate intensity exercise every day provides greater value than more intense activity a few days a week.
- William E. Kraus, the study’s principal investigator reports, “… Some exercise is better than none, more exercise is generally better than less, and no exercise can be disastrous.”
- All exercisers in the 8 month study lost inches around their waist compared to the inactive control group who gained on average 1 pound and 1/2 an inch. (researchers noted that over 10 years that equals 20lbs and 10 inches).
30 minutes for your health is not a lot to ask! You do have 30 minutes a day. If you insist on watching TV at night cancel the gym membership and invest in a treadmill. You can exercise while watching your favorite show and before you know it 30 minutes will have come and gone. Regardless of how old you are, it’s never too late to start - just start slow!
If you still think you don’t have time, start to make a list of all the activities you engage in during the day and how long you spend on each.
We are each in control of our own bodies and our own health - so take control!
I believe that without my health I have nothing. What do you believe?

Thankyou! I find it fascinating how people look at things.
