Snow, Driving and Stress
So often people ask me if I have stress. Yes, I do and I’ve written about it before. However, today reminds me of the one thing that probably stresses me out more than anything - more than my health, my business, my family, my finances - driving in the snow.
Today in Boston we are getting a storm - the snow is coming down fast and furious. I went to lunch with a colleague at noon - no snow. When we left at 1:45pm - the ground and roads were covered and a bit icy. It took me 30 minutes to get from Quincy Center to Weymouth Landing which is normally a ten minute drive.
30 minutes may not sound like much, but when your hands are gripping the wheel and your heart is pounding out of your chest, 30 minutes is a lifetime. My Honda civic got me home safe (ok, I know it’s not the car, it’s the driver) and I am never so happy to be home than when I’ve been driving in a snow or ice storm.
I love the beauty the snow brings to the landscape - my yard is so white and clean - I just wish the snow would only fall on the grass and in the mountains. Leave the roads alone!
Or maybe the plows need to be more active, I don’t know.
I’m thankful that driving in snow storms is not an every day occurrence where I live - I don’t think my heart could handle it.
What about you - how are you driving in snow storms?
