Cars, Fuel, Obesity and the Environment
I took my car to Sullivan Tire the other day for an oil change. While waiting, I picked up a copy of Reader’s Digest, the April 2007 edition, and started to flip through it. I came upon a small article about a small new research study regarding fuel consumption and overweight drivers.
Essentially the researchers did some secondary research - going through data about the US population, weight gain and increase in fuel consumption and they found a correlation. As individuals in this country gained weight, fuel consumption increased.
My jaw dropped. It did make sense that the car would need more gas to carry the added weight and yet the thought had never crossed my mind.
I don’t know the validity of the study but it certainly gives one more thing to think about in several “fights” we are up against in this country. If you want to have a positive impact on the environment, finances, and your car, watch your weight!

Thanks for the business Stacey!
