Mass Audubon Society - Wildlife Sanctuary Wellfleet, Massachusetts

In mid-August, during my week on Cape Cod, Michael and I took a drive to the Wellfleet Bay Wildlife Sanctuary, run by the Mass Audubon Society. The day was warm and humid yet we chose a walk instead of the beach. Michael had visited the sanctuary in April and loved it.
Our walk started from the [...]

Daily Wellness Tip - Read Your Food Labels

Recently I’ve talked to folks trying to lose weight. They are exercising and eating right, they are frustrated. My first thoughts are always “are you exercising enough?” and “what is your diet really like?”
Today it hit me - read your food labels. I only recently started to do that as I became curious [...]

Massachusetts Adults 2nd Leanest in Country, Kids Trail

Lots in the news today. A new report shows that Massachusetts adults rank 2nd only to Colorado as the leanest adult population in the country. That doesn’t mean we can get lazy! Keep up the good work.
That said children in the state aren’t as lean as the adults. Kids age 10 [...]

Dunkin Donuts Going to 0 Trans Fats

Today Dunkin Donuts announced it would be eliminating trans fats across it’s entire menu. The chain expects products to have 0 grams trans-fat across all U.S. stores by mid-October. International locations will begin using the new oils in the next couple of years.

My Week of Mindful Meditation

Last week I had the opportunity to take a week long workshop on Cape Cod called Mindful Meditation: Reclaiming our Natural Talents and Well-Being. The course was offered through the Cape Cod Institute and was the first class I’ve taken through this organization. The class was taught by Michael Carroll, a coach, human resource professional [...]

Indulge in a Vacation - Nauset House Inn Review

I am just getting back to work after a week on Cape Cod. The trip combined a workshop on meditation with vacation. The workshop took place Monday - Friday 9am until noon which leaves plenty of time for R&R. This away could not have come at a better moment. I was tired of thinking, tired [...]

Recipe - Cheesy Lentils and Rice

This one is a favorite of mine and my husband’s. It’s so easy and flavorful. To keep it vegan, leave the butter and cheese out of the recipe - this dish will still have plenty of flavor. Add a green salad to make this a complete meal!

Yoga in Orleans, MA- Life Center for Health Review

This week I’m on the Cape for a workshop/vacation in Orleans, MA on Cape Cod. While in town the other day I noticed the Life Center for Health offering chiropractic services, tai chi, acupuncture and yoga. I was so excited. We walked across the street to check it out and grab a schedule. I was [...]

P90X - Week 8 and 9

It’s been a couple of weeks since I posted about P90X. It’s still going - week 8 was a rest week and I definitely rested. At least from anything that had to do with P90X. I’m at a point in my life and my workouts where I just don’t want that kind of [...]

Fun Fact: Yoga and McDonalds

The two really don’t have much in common. Today I started my vacation/mindful meditation workshop on Cape Cod and the class instructor told us the following:
There are now more yoga studios than McDonald’s burger joints in the U.S.
I have not heard this before nor have I had time to look it up. [...]
