Daily Wellness Tip - Connect with Nature

I believe that if we can take a little time during our day to get outside for some fresh air and connect with nature, the stress of the day will be forgotten (at least for that short period of time!).

I have been spending quite a bit of time in my backyard this summer - at varying times during the day - early morning, mid-day and post-dinner. What I’ve noticed simply by sitting on my deck is the family of cardinals we have living in our trees. The males are absolutely stunning - this is one of 3 I’ve seen flying around the yard.

Last week I noticed a lot of activity in a tall bush near the trees where the cardinals have been perched. I walked over to see the commotion and sure enough there was a nest. As I jumped to see any babies, all of a sudden the head of a baby popped, mouth open ready to be fed.

I was so amazed by the site I snapped a few more pictures.

I was giggly like a kid in a candy store all because of a baby bird in my back yard. I felt my whole body relax as I enjoyed viewing this baby bird in my yard.

After returning home from a weekend away, I found the nest empty and the adult cardinals gone. I can only hope the baby was grown enough to fly on his own. That is the story I choose to believe.

You don’t have to go far away to connect with nature. Find a favorite spot, whether it be a park, the mountains or your own back yard. Sit for even just a few minutes and notice all the living beings around you. It’s simple, beautiful, basic and is sure to bring you back to your senses.
