P90X - Days 10 through 13

Well, this was a rough week. Michael had a cold at the beginning of the week and I had a cold at the end. Needless to say we missed a few workouts. That’s ok, I don’t feel bad about it at all!

Day 10 - Shoulders, biceps, triceps. I increased the weights this week since I didn’t have any soreness from week 1. Again, it was the triceps that were hurting the next day. I think it’s the last exercise: the side lying tricep press (picture coming soon). It’s a killer a the end!

So far this is my favorite workout. I like how he does three exercises then repeats, then moves on. And I appreciate his comment in the beginning about how this workout targets the “glamor” muscles - the muscles you see when you wear a tank top or you’re in a swimsuit at the beach. Biceps and triceps especially are so easy to work and see a difference, I look forward to this workout!

Day 11 - Yoga
Again, I skipped out on the P90X yoga. Instead I went for a 30 minute jog and did the 25 minute version of Power Yoga for Flexibility with Rodney Yee (on DVD). I also did ab ripper X. Ab Ripper X is 16 minutes of core insanity!

I am not one to spend a lot of time on ab work, so I am pushing myself to get it done 3 times per week.

This was a tough day for me because I could feel that I was starting to come down with something. My head was congested, throat was scratchy and my energy was low. I probably pushed it by doing the jog.

Day 12 - REST
This was supposed to be legs and back, but the head cold caught up to me. I couldn’t push anymore and decided to take the whole day off. I thought about it, and decided it was time to listen to my body. No P90X today.

Day 13 - Kenpo
I was feeling better this morning but still didn’t want to push too hard. I waited until around noon to do my workout and decided that I would catch up where I left off - Legs and Back and Ab Ripper X. I didn’t push it at all. Lowered the weights a bit because I definitely still had a cold and breathing was tough. I still feel like I worked my legs - they were burning after the wall squats for sure!

Our bands at home for the back work aren’t heavy enough, so that was a little skimpy. I’ll have to go buy new ones.

Michael was traveling for the weekend - so he’s way behind now on P90X!

Today was my 3rd time with the Ab Ripper X (For some reason we didn’t do it week one - we didn’t know about it…) and it’s still tough because I have week hip flexors, but each time it does get a little bit easier.

Maybe because I know what to expect.

As the day has gone by I feel much better. The cough is almost gone and the congestion has decreased. We’ll see what tomorrow brings. Maybe a jog and some yoga (either P90X or at a local studio). Or maybe I’ll try Cardio X. We haven’t done that one yet.

If anyone out there is also on this P90X adventure I’d love to hear how you’re doing and what you’re thoughts are…please share!

Almost to week 3 and that should be interesting. I was surprised in week 2 how much I was able to increase weights and intensity from week 1.

I can’t believe that I’m actually enjoying the workouts. I made fun of my husband for buying them! Oh well.

Until next time…BRING IT!
