Daily Wellness Tip - Live in the Now
I know, I know, you’ve heard it before, so have I. On a recent trip to Florida I visited with my mother’s cousin Yvonne. She is almost 80 years old. She still drives, lives alone, travels across the country alone to see her children, and she has the most unbelievable attitude about life. She is at an age where a lot of her friends and family are passing on. As we sat at lunch one afternoon on my trip she talk about that said, “What else can I do? Tomorrow isn’t here and yesterday already happened, all I have is today.”
And even though I’ve heard it all before - in life, my yoga, my mediation, this time it struck me in a very different way. Hearing these words from an 80 year old woman in good health and attitude made me think there really is something to it.
We, as a society, tend to look forward to the future. For what? It’s not real. Today is real and today was a beautiful sunny day filled with family, fun and happiness. I may not have the same experience tomorrow…so all I can do is be thankful for today.
