March Wellness Survey Results

Overall, respondents are exercising. Only 10% replied that you “never” exercise. The reasons? Too busy, too tired, gym is too far from the house.

If you are “too busy” then I ask you: How are you spending your time? We make time for the things we want to make time for. Exercise is the key to healthy living, and it’s important to make some time. Even if you only have 10 minutes to spare, you can go for a walk. It’s simple - strap on some sneakers, grab a coat and go. Walking doesn’t cost you anything and it gets you outside. You will feel better.

If you’re excuse is: “Too tired” did you know that cardiovascular activity can actually energize you? Again, a simple 10 minute walk is all you need to start. Can you spare 10 minutes each day for a walk? (and who knows 10 could quickly turn into 20).

You might also consider setting up a space in your home for a workout. Studies have shown the people who work out at home exercise more frequently. Your at home workout space does not have to be big nor does it have to cost a lot of money.

Of those who are exercising, approximately 1/3 of you are moving only 1 or 2 times per week. The recommended amount of exercise for a healthy lifestyle: 3 times per week 20 to 30 minutes per session. You can get this done while watching your favorite TV show. Instead of sitting, get up and do some jumping jacks, jump rope, or do some push-ups. Anything to get the body moving and the heart pumping.

Just over half of you who participated go to the gym for your workouts, while approximatley 1/3 like to be outside. The key to sticking with your schedule - find an activity you enjoy!

And finally 95% of you were females, and 85% between the ages of 26 and 44.
